The previoius page shows a painting that I did of West Main Street in Gloucester. There are many small stores and restaurants on West Main, including the Short & Main Restaurant, which is one of our favorites. This view point of this painting is set on the side of the street where Short & Main is located. The overhead sign is visible. It is a rainy day and pedestrians are seen walking. An old, 1920s Touring Car, is coming down the street, its head lights reflecting off of the wet asphalt.

This painting was done with acrylic paints and is about 14 x 16. I plan to do a much larger version in oil.

Above is a photo of the West End Main Street from the 1900s. Many of the buildings remain.
